A Black & Grey realism study inspired by classical sculpture and the timeless aesthetics of ancient art.

The composition features a sculptural male profile with strong facial features, flowing hair and a detailed beard. Carefully developed shadows and soft tonal transitions create a sense of depth, structure and monumentality.

The primary focus of this artwork was exploring light and shadow, facial anatomy and three-dimensional form through controlled grey shading. Particular attention was given to the transitions between illuminated surfaces and deep shadows around the eyes, nose and beard.

The dark background enhances the silhouette and emphasizes the sculptural qualities of the portrait.

This piece represents an exploration of classical artistic forms and an important stage in developing my understanding of realism, tonal balance and detailed portrait composition.
